Independent filmmakers rely on us for substantive artistic advice so as improve the marketability of their works to prospective investors, and for transactional counseling when it comes time to finance their films. Previously, we represented a group of investors who optioned the rights to the book Jackie Cochran: Pilot in the Fast Lane. Recently, we began representing Tachyon Films, L.L.C., whose short firm, Yellow, which was accepted into the BET Urban Film Festival, and screenplay, Mahjong, have garnered the interest of Mr. Curtis Jackson (p/k/a "50 Cent"), among other investors. Film distribution companies have also relied upon us for litigation counseling when disputes arise over the meaning and application of distribution agreement terms. For example, we successfully defended Victory Audio Video Services, Inc. (d/b/a "Victory Multimedia"), a Los Angeles based audio-visual distribution company, against a breach of distribution contract complaint in the Supreme Court of the State of New York, County of New York.
